The National Office for the Fight against Human Trafficking (BNLTEH) and the Financial Intelligence Unit of Madagascar (SAMIFIN), represented by the Executive Secretary, Mr. Éric RAMAHANDRISOA and the Director General, Mr. Mamitiana RAJAONARISON, signed a memorandum of understanding, on 10th June 2024.
At the end of the training of 45 Malagasy and Angolan evaluators, the closing of which was held at the Ibis hotel on Saturday June 8, 2024 at 1 p.m., the Director General of SAMIFIN, Mr. Mamitiana Rajaonarison warmly congratulated the participants who demonstrated willpower and perseverance to complete the training and receive the certificates confirming this 5-day course.
Madagascar is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world, leading to pressure to illegally export its precious resources, including timber, tortoises, lemurs and medicinal plants.
Other West Indian Ocean countries, given their dispersed geography and location, face major threats from illegal trade of their natural resources, coupled with illegal drug trade convergence using similar smuggling routes.
