Training of 45 Malagasy and Angolan evaluators

At the end of the training of 45 Malagasy and Angolan evaluators, the closing of which was held at the Ibis hotel on Saturday June 8, 2024 at 1 p.m., the Director General of SAMIFIN, Mr. Mamitiana Rajaonarison warmly congratulated the participants who demonstrated willpower and perseverance to complete the training and receive the certificates confirming this 5-day course.

During these days, participants learned the mysteries of evaluating a country in terms of progress in the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism. The 5 ESAAMLG experts provided them with theoretical knowledge and case studies, as well as errors to avoid when conducting evaluations. Role plays took place, as well as group exercises with limited time for feedback, putting participants in a real context.

The Leader of ESAAMLG experts, Joseph Jagada insisted to the participants that they put into practice what they learned, because the training would be enhanced once implemented in real life. As for the Director General of SAMIFIN, he wanted to thank the partners who supported the training, namely UNDP and Banky Foiben’i Madagasikara. He also emphasized that Madagascar now has a team with around forty evaluators who have just been trained. “We must now contribute and participate in our regional group, ESAAMLG and at the same time, put into practice what has been learned.

With the AML/CFT law which has just been updated, we now have the commitment of the Government, and now it is our commitment that is necessary.” At the end of the closing, SAMIFIN offered the experts souvenirs that they will take home and which will remind them of their shared experience and knowledge in Madagascar.
