    After conducting awareness training sessions on AML/CFT in Antananarivo, Majunga, and Toamasina, SAMIFIN organized new sessions on the same topic for Airtel Money on August 22 and 23, 2022 in Antsirabe.

    This five-year (2022-2026) plan will help Madagascar comply with international standards and strengthen the synergy between national actors, as well as boost international cooperation. It also aims to ensure the effectiveness of the systems in order to mitigate the risks and threats of ML/FT/FP and to detect and repress illicit financial flows.

    The annual report for 2021 is written in French originally. This report includes an overview of the progress on the fight against money laundering and financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) in Madagascar. At the national level, awareness-raising actions, training and support for different stakeholders were important steps taken towards the prevention of ML/FT. At the regional and international levels, efforts have been concentrated on compliance with international standards.

    Action plan to technical compliance 2021-2022
    Madagascar conducted a mutual evaluation process in 2017 in collaboration with the World Bank and the ESAAMLG Secretariat to determine the level of technical compliance and effectiveness of the AML/CFT regime. The implementation of the recommendations resulting from this assessment aims to strengthen the national AML/CFT system. The evaluation report was adopted by the Council of Ministers in 2022.
