GLOBE 5TH PLENARY MEETING
The Director General expanded SAMIFIN’s network
The 5th plenary session of the GlobE network (Global Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Operational Network) was held from September 24 to 27, 2024, in Beijing, China. Mr. Mamitiana Rajaonarison, the Director General of SAMIFIN, attended this international event, which convened 219 anti-corruption authorities from various nations. This prestigious forum serves as a significant platform for fostering relationships with foreign agencies. Additionally, it provides an opportunity to establish efficient and swift information-sharing mechanisms, which are crucial for financial analysis, a domain in which SAMIFIN leads in Madagascar. These exchanges may involve individuals under investigation and assets linked to corruption, whether concealed or invested in other jurisdictions.
The Director General of SAMIFIN, through his participation and involvement in various initiatives, has successfully established and revitalized connections with entities from several countries engaged in the AML/CFT/FP field including Hong Kong, Algeria, Belgium, France, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka, not to mention the Chinese authorities as well as international organizations. Closer cooperation with Hong Kong was initiated last year and is expected to yield positive results fairly soon.
