Strengthening Economic Collaboration: Meeting with IMF Representative of Madagascar
October 22th 2024. In a significant step toward bolstering economic stability and growth, Mamitiana RAJAONARISON held a productive meeting with Kodjovi EKLOU, the representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), at Anosy Antananarivo.
The discussions centered on the strategic plan of SAMIFIN and the national strategic on AML/CFT.
The dialogue provided an opportunity to assess ongoing programs and explore new avenues for collaboration.
Key Highlights of the Meeting:
1. Mutual evaluation on 2026. Madagascar’s position regarding the follow-up with the Eastern and Southern Africa Anti-Money Laundering Group (ESAAMLG) was presented, emphasizing both progress made and challenges ahead. Among the highlights was the development of a comprehensive preparation plan for the upcoming mutual evaluation in 2026, as well as the recognition of the need for a thorough self-assessment to ensure readiness.
2. Training center. As part of the continuous efforts to combat money laundering and financial crimes, the Director General of SAMIFIN shared exciting news about the imminent inauguration of a specialized training center. This center, established under SAMIFIN, aims to empower all national stakeholders by providing targeted training programs.
